Summer Kickoff In The Old Port
This summer we’ll be without our good friend Sam due to his medical program in Hawaii, so we decided to throw him a going away party in the Old Port.

Acadia in March 2010
It was very cold once again our annual guys bike trip to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, ME. We had a great time though, burgers on the fire, lots of beer, and then on Saturday we biked 18 miles of the INCREDIBLY gorgeous Acadia coastline.

Stuart's Going On A Date
My friend Charles was making a video for a campus film fest project and he asked from some help so I told him I’d lend my past experience with lighting and filmography. The idea is Stuart, a very awkward young man, is at a speed dating event meeting women. The catch is, the women are much too much for him.  It turned out alright, but regardless, it was fun to make.

24 Frames Shoot
I shot 224 photos for a Form and Content project last week. I thought it’d be a nice two birds, one stone kind of deal; fun photoshoot while fulfilling a school project requirement at the same time.  Here’s Gillian Murphy:

Tonight I drove down to Ursula’s apartment down in Boston and I snapped some (albeit dangerous at times) photos during my travels in my car.

Smokers' Receptacle
Today I felt lucky for once to walk by the smokers area outside my dorm when I saw that someone had put something in the smokers’ receptacle that was billowing out smoke… Love it.

This year I celebrated the day of the dead at my girlfriend’s place down in Boston.  Many were in attendance, most dressed up, but my two friends Eddie and Hannah were dressed up especially nice tonight! Alice and the Mad Hatter:

Early Morning Back From Ursula's
This morning I was on my way back from Ursula’s apartment in Boston and on the walk to the T I snapped a few shots with my iPhone because I didn’t have my Nikon on me at the time… they actually came out well though, I guess all this 365 experience is actually giving me some compositional knowledge and wisdom of what looks good and how to shoot it, even if only with a 1.3MP cell...

Green Eye Edit
Editing eyes is actually relatively easy to do. First as you can see I edited out the glares in the pupil and on the edge of the iris.  Then I altered the color a bit, burned the outside of the iris and dodged the inside to give depth. Lastly I added a glare spot in the pupil again because without it the pupil looks really dark. Before and After:

Inspiration for 365's
I recently started up a Flickr group, Inspiration for 365, for those of us few photographers who are actually trying to complete a 365 challenge.  Sometimes it’s hard and we don’t have the motivation one day, or maybe we lack creativity the next… I figured if I start up a group and a few of my friends (and anyone else who wants to) join in on the fun, we could be each others...

Water and Light
I’ve always wanted to take high-end stop-action shots like these! I came home from class one day this week and decided to just set it up and see what I could do! Strobist info: • Off-camera flash is set up pointed away from the subject at a white bounce card on camera-left. • Black bounce card to keep light from bouncing back onto the camera-right side of the glass.

Boston, Dinners, and Moving
Today I helped my friend Mary move into a new apartment in Boston.  We only had to make 3 trips, and there wasn’t tooooo much stuff, so it wasn’t too bad. In the process I somehow cut my thumb though, I have no idea how. I am rather infatuated with Snoopy, always have been. It’s the only cartoon I really watched as a kid. That said, I always keep a stash of Snoopy and Woodstock...

Night Light
Tonight I went down to the beach with J.Mo and Mar. Reid State was rather buggy, but beautiful. The moon was out and the sky was gorgeous! First Marie and I waited down by the waterfront in bath for John to get out of work and we snapped a few shots on the pier by the town docks. Note that A. these chain links are like 8 by 15 inches each, and B. this shot was taken at night with almost no...

Joe and Mar Photoshoot
Marie and I decided to do some portraits last night, so we set up a little diy lighting setup with some cheap white rolls of paper for kids drawing easel as the background, a 800 watt barn light for the main light bounced off a white bounce card front camera left, 400 watt clamp halogen at a white bounce card front camera right, then some shots used some desk lamps to light up the backdrop, some...

Dramatic Beantown
At 2am this morning I drove down to Boston to drop Sam of at Logan for a trip out to Seattle. I dropped him off around 4:30 then went up to Revere beach to watch the sunrise over Boston Harbor. Needless to say, there were far too many bugs, the smell on Revere beach was horrible, and the clouds hindered the whole sun rising thing.  I did get a few cool shots though. Then I snapped this one as...

Septic System
So this week I went up to our camp to help my father dig a BIG hole for a BIG septic tank for our rental cottage. So after two days of digging the 6x6x15 foot hole through roots, rocks, and wet clay with our Kubota… we now have our 1000 gallon tank in the ground! Here’s our actual camp over on the lot next door.

Painting and the Kennebec @ Night
Today I did some domestic repairs; I scraped and painted the corner of my house. Then I barbecued some delicious steak. Magic fish seasoning… incredible. Then since it was such a gorgeous day, I decided to take my boat out on the river for a little sunset ride and got some beautiful shots of my locale.
